Michau, who was a master of the Brussels Guild from 1698 and of the Antwerp Guild from 1710, painted richly figural landscapes in the style of Pieter Bout and Jan Brueghel the Elder. The works of this talented painter are a vivid example of the continuance during the 18th century of the artistic traditions of the South Netherlands.
